Hating Your Own

There has always been and will always be the never ending battle over Black men dating White women. It's something I constantly read about on Twitter. And yesterday was no different when @officallyice twitted out his 10 Reasons Black Guys Prefer White Girls. This list had "Black Twitter" buzzing for hours.

Stand For Something

While being interviewed by a Christian website, Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy had this to say:
“We are very much supportive of the family — the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that.”

My opinion on this not about what the President of the company had to say, but it's more so about him taking a stand for what he believes, rather than giving a response that would please the masses. I feel we live in a society where most people go with the flow and sway with the wind just so they wont ruffle any feathers.

"I Believe"

I believe
That wisdom is admitting
That you don’t know everything
That the answers to life’s questions
Are hidden in the stories
Of our elders

Representando: Reggaeton!

The first Reggae recordings in Latin America were made in Panama in the mid-1970s. A large number of Jamaican immigrants, brought in to build the Panama Canal, brought Reggae music with them and introduced it to the local population. Nando Boom is considered one of the first raggamuffin deejays from Panama. Without Panamanian ragga deejays like El General reggaeton would never have caught on.

7 Principles of An Eagle

By: Dr. Myles Monroe

Eagles fly alone at a high altitude and not with sparrows or mix with other smaller birds.
Birds of a feather flock together. No other bird goes to the height of the eagle. Eagles fly with eagles. Never in a flock. Even when Moses (Old Testament Bible) went to commune with God on the mountain, he left the crowd at the foothills. Stay away from sparrows and ravens. Eagles fly with eagles.

Eagles have strong vision, which focuses up to 5 kilometers from the air.
When an eagle sites prey- even a rodent from this distance, he narrows his focus on it and sets out to get it. No matter the obstacle, the eagle will not move his focus from the prey until he grabs it. Have a vision and remain focused no matter what the obstacle and you will succeed.

Closing A Chapter

For the last six years of my life I have worked at a job that I was less than trilled about. It was my first job out of college so of course I took it, having had no idea the ups and downs I would face. I was on a roller coaster of emotions with it, at times putting plenty of energy into looking for a new job. To then feeling trapped and destined to stay at the job for the rest of my life.

There were so many times I would cry to my mother, begging her to let me just come home and live with her and my dad until I found a job I enjoyed. My mother never once told me I could not come back home. But always recommended that I stay at my job and get through it because it would build my character. Hearing this at that time didn't make me feel better at all. But I decided to stay at the job because I had bills to pay.

Be Healthy: Bananas

Bananas are a great food for all round health benefits. For the average person, dieter or even athletes, bananas may provide greater benefits than most fruits. The combination of carbohydrates and B vitamins present in a banana helps provide an energy boost.

Stagnantlack of development, advancement, or progressive movement.

Lately I've noticed I am finding myself moving away from certain
people in my life who seem to be in a stagnant place. Not to say that I
am looking down on anyone, but surrounding myself with people
who have goals and a purpose has become very important.

"Wounded Heart"

Cripple not my soul for assuming you cared for me as much as I cared for you.
For I expect nothing but equal treatment in a world that is unbalanced and unequal.

Your motives are only satisfactory to ones self, leaving me under nourished.
As I attempt not to beg for your affection, my heart is influenced by hurt.
